Geography is the limit of the ability to understand.

What which we see on a map, especially on antique maps, is not the earth, but the profile of our social and religious organizations, the profile of our fears.
The place is un the Balkans, which in the Europe of the 20th century represents the failure of the instruments of comprehension and geographic control. For the traveler with a weak sense of orientation the metaphor of geographic imprecision comes easily.

Synopsis of 'geography'

Documentary of a journey in a country that's loosing faith in geography: one of the never ending arguments regarding the nature of the ocean, someone still sees it as a river at land's end.
Balancing this loss is a certain nostalgia, which most often comes from the memory of the odors and the songs of the aunts.
or:
Geography is the limit of the ability to understand, it's the difficulty of organizing in a form (cartography in particular) the complications of reality. That which we see on a map, especially on antique maps, is not the earth, but the profile of our social and religious organizations, the profile of our fears.
In this work, the subject is the Balkans, which in the Europe of the 20th century represents the failure of the instruments of comprehension and geographic control. For the traveler with a weak sense of orientation the metaphor of geographic imprecision comes easily, and the paradoxical representation of this documentary becomes it's most suited form.

a country where everyone stays home to sing
and if they don't sing they talk about music
and if they don't talk about music
they talk about geography
and if they talk about geography
they don't understand each other
no-one out in the street there's no-one
